However, seeing as lots of festivals happen in December (Pancha Ganapti, Litha/Yule, Channukah, etc), I'd rather that the consumerism was replaced with spending more money on the less fortunate. Like a charity month. All religions and non-religions could get behind that. It surely fits in with the themes of family, generosity and goodwill. Christmas ruins the summer holidays for me. I am sure that there´s a mention of Jesus being born in december somewhere in the Bible, and that if it hasn´t been found yet it´s just a matter of time. Maybe in those dead sea scrolls, or something You atheists just want to destroy christmas to enforce your godless beliefs. I would rather spend the dark dreary days of winter in the office and take off a fine spring day or a crisp fall day. I've always been of the opinion that people should get a set amount of days to take for their truly personal interests. Jews could take them for their Rosh Hashanna and Yom Kippur. Wicca could take Yule. If some Christians didn't like Christmas, they could take more days off around Easter. And I could take them whenever I want.
